BEES LET DOWN
The bees seam intent on shooting themselves in the foot when yet again a gift and a moment of madness left us to battle out this cup tie for 40 minutes with 10 men.
It all started so well when top scorer Witherington got us off to a great start, after muscling his way round 2 defenders and slotting the ball past the oncoming Waters. (1-0 after 5 minutes)
The lead wasn’t to last though, as rolls leveled just 6 minutes later through Wass. (1-1 after 11 minutes)..
Hucknall pressed and had it not been for some heroics from our stopper Sinbad they could have taken the lead. The team defended well all round and were gradually getting hold of the game, when a simple long ball was not cleared by our sweeper and Hodgeson gratefully slotted home . (2-1 after 35 minutes)
The second half started fairly even with both sides seeing plenty of ball. Early into the second half a free kick was awarded to Rolls and what followed can only be described as an immature outburst from a senior player. The outburst was directed at Mr Rolph (ref) leaving him no option but to give a straight red card. This left the players mates to soldier on with ten men.
The formation had to be changed and the ten men showed real character and determination but still could not find the equalizer. Kosar was brought on in the last 15 as an extra forward leaving a few openings for Rolls to exploit but they failed to rap it up heading wide from close range. The best chance fell to the bees when some great work from Macca found Kosar unmarked standing 6 inch from the line but somehow managed to miss.
Well done to the ten men, who knows what would have happened had we kept the full team on.
