Matrixgrade - 2, Keyworth - 0,
Goal Scorers - Greg Witherington & Lee Farmery
Man of the match - Craig McMorron
Let’s start by setting the scene - the game was spoilt by high winds, cold weather and rain
Keyworth came to the Hive to get something out of this game and although they saw plenty of the ball, they never really managed to penetrate our defence. The midfield was marshaled well by General Jackson who never put a foot wrong the whole game. Making his debut in the middle for the first time this year was Mcmorran who had a great game, standing out from the rest and winning himself man of the match. Up front top goal scorer Witherington and Carruthers worked very hard together but never really clicked. It looked like both sides was going into the break even until one moment of magic from our Captain Farmery. He received the ball 20 yards out with his back to goal, turned, hit the ball and found the top corner after 44 minutes
Half time score 1-0
Keyworth came out to the second half giving it a good go, but were again unable to penetrate our defence (Stevenson, Smith , Ramsey and Sinbad) who all had a solid game at the back.
Matrix were getting more and more chances as the game wore on and after 60 mins Witherington got a well deserved goal after working very hard for his team. Subs Hassall and Woody were brought on for the last 20 and livened things up. We got behind their defence on numerous occasions but lacked the final killer pass to add to the scoreline. The game ended with 10 men when Kosar had to be stretched off with a broken toe nail in the last 5 Minutes.
Well done lads - 3 good points in poor conditions!!!
Full time score 2-0
