Matrixgrade 4, Cotgrave MW 3 Goal Scorers - (M) - Doyle(2), Witherington(1), Farmery(1) Man of the match - Lee Farmery Referee - Dean Helm (10/10) Half and half Average first half followed by a very poor second. We looked pretty lively in the early stages, the busy bee Macca found himself 1 on 1 but their keeper managed to parry the shot away from goal. The ball fell to Doyle but all he could manage was to shoot wide. The Bees kept pressing and got our reward when Witherington dribbled his way into the six yard box and crossed for captain Farmery to volley home. 1-0 (10 minutes) Just five minutes later and the same two were at it again this time Farmery supplying Witherington who headed wide from close range. Cotgrave enjoyed a fair bit of possession over the next 15 minutes but didn’t really cause us too much goal mouth pressure. Any nerves were settled when again Witherington crossed for Doyle who neatly finish. 2-0 (37 minutes) The bees extended their lead with some great play by Macca supplying the ball for Witherington to volley home a rocket. (3-0 half time) Cotgrave came out in the second period determined to give us a game. It wasn’t long before they got one back when Plummer burst through a none existent midfield and straight through a hapless flat back line to find himself one on one with our keeper Hames who brought him down for a definite penalty. Plummer took the kick smashing the ball in the top corner. 3-1 (50 minutes) Poor midfield work and poor defending gave them chance after chance. Plummer again found himself on his own 25 yards out and let rip with a thunderbolt which flew into the top corner. 3-2 (65 minutes) A rare break away calmed the nerves a bit with Doyle finishing calmly from ten yards . 4-2 (70 minutes) Cotgrave continued to press and got themselves another goal 4-3(85 minutes) NOT GOOD ENOUGH LADS, BUCK UP............... |
