Christmas summary and a show of spirit

Wollaton - 0, Matrixgrade - 1

Goal Scorer - Sean Holmes

Man of the match - Jaimie Laws

Christmas turnout poor, but spirit is high

With six players missing, Wollaton must have thought Santa had come early. Three defenders,  two midfielders and our top goal scorer out this game, it was always going to be difficult. However, what we lacked in numbers we made up for in character - something Matrixgrade have in abundance .

The spirit starts at the core of the team with our captain and Assistant Manager Lee Farmery. This is a man who never gives up; he works for the team 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, working with the management to find the right sort of players with the spirit that suits our team. We have nurtured players in the last few years who came here with bags of experience, but have added the Matrix spirit which has made the core of the side very strong .

Players like....

Andy Ramsey, who came here from higher leagues but has never thought he was better than anybody else in the team. In fact he has used that experience to help the rest of the team.

Ossie Kosar who has only been here for a few seasons but what a player to have. He too has turned into the sort of player we need at Matrix, who loves the club and works 24/7, looking for players and helping with the running of the club.

Sammy Hamilton - Mr Matrixgrade, who has been with us since the late eighties. He is yet another player who loves the club and would not even think of going anywhere else. Once a Matrixgrade player, always a Matrixgrade player.

Sean Holmes, although not 90 minutes fit, ran his socks off down the left and even managed to get us the winner, 15 minutes from the end. Just excellent.

Greg Witherington, who came here from a high standard in the West Midlands works his balls off every game he has played for the bees. He is strong, honest, leads the line well up front and hits double figures each year he has played.

Nick Waite, a couple of years ago, we could see plenty of skill but he didn’t have the matrix spirit. Towards the end of last year he stuck at it and gradually in came the spirit. This year its there for all to see

Adam Stevenson is what matrix is all about. Another player who will never give up takes no prisoners in defense, needed on the field and in the dressing room..

Woody is one of our favorite players and when he stops listening to the wrong people he will become an awesome player.

This year we have also signed 7 quality players who have formed the backbone of the side. ..

Wayne Atkin took over in goal and brought with him vast experience. He is a winner and a fantastic shot stopper, the sort of player we need at Matrix.

Terry Smith oozes the spirit we need and leads by example. He played this Saturday with one leg - True grit.

In front of Tez is our general Jacko who works his socks off in midfield our our man of the match every week.

Stig is a fantastic player who has played at all the big clubs and brings with him a wealth of experience but just needs a little more commitment to help our club challenge for the title.

Jordan joined us mid way through the season from Loughborough and is a very good player indeed. We are sure the longer he stays the better he will get.

Craig who came at he same time as Jordan just has bags of skill and two great feet. He has made a big difference up front and struck up a very good partnership with Greg.

Our latest signing Jaimie Laws has only had one full game but has showed he is more than capable of cementing his place in the side.

Our other signing Danny has yet to get a start as he hasn’t been able to commit every sat but has shown in training he’s got it.

A Fantastic performance on Saturday boys. It proves when your back is against the wall you have character. Lets build on it. IT STARTS AT TRAINING.

DON’T FORGET WE HAVE GAME ON 29th AND A MERRY XMAS TO YOU ALL!!!!
