Poor finishing.... The Bees did everything right today apart from score. The defence was tight, the midfield strong but the forward play was awful. Even though we played it tight, the first half chances still fell to us. Witherington found himself one on one with the keeper but saved his effort, Farmery missed from close range and Woody 1 on 1 shot straight at the keeper. Another day all these chances would be put away. The second half we played with an extra forward, putting even more pressure on but still couldn’t hit the back of the net. Good handling from Palethorpe for Basford kept the Bees at bay and managed to block two more one on ones from Witherington . As happens with all standards of football if you don’t take your chances the opposition will sting you. This happened today when substitute Marcus Hall sent over a harmless looking low cross. In trying to clear the ball our defender hit the ball against our keepers head giving Basford all 3 points. (0-1 after 83 minutes)
