Over 200 free backup arrangements
... make practice fun!
Clawhammer tab: "Old Man Can Your Dog Catch A Rabbit"

My Virtual Bluegrass Band will play "back up" for you, at ANY speed, for as long as you like. They are ROCK solid, will play at a moment's notice and much more fun than a metronome. Playing along with the "band" will do wonders for your timing and they don't mind you making mistakes!

These midi arrangements were created with "Band-In-A-Box".  Windows has a built-in midi player but I suggest that you download the free midi player from  vanbasco. This allows you to adjust the tempo, which is important when you're learning a new tune.

Set the tempo to a comfortable slow speed, then gradually increase the tempo as you improve. All arrangements are in the key of G unless otherwise stated. The arrangements do not contain any melody - it's your job to play the lead. Always practice a new tune SLOWLY with good SOLID timing.

The complete collection of midi arrangements can be downloaded in the single file
allmid.zip and then unzipped with Winzip or you can download each individual ".mid" arrangement by right clicking on its name on the "Tunes" page and selecting "Save Target As" in the dialog box. Navigate to the folder where you wish to save the arrangement and click "Save". If you own Band-In-A-Box, you can download the complete set of "sgu" files in allsgu.zip ,  including my bluegrass style file 5string.sty and variations of this style.

Tabs to most of the tunes can be found in back issues of Banjo Newsletter. Please sign the guest book if you have any comments or you wish to make a request. If you find the arrangements useful please consider making a donation.
Thank you.
