Moko Lesney Matchbox 6a Quarry truck

The Lesney model of the first of the quarry trucks was the 6a which was to join the Matchbox 1-75 series in 1954,
It was always painted with the cab in orange and the tipper body in grey which could be tipped because it hinged on two pips on the chassis that located into two holes in the tipper body.
Gold trim was hand applied to the radiator grille and the two tanks at the rear of the body.
It usually came fitted with 11 x 15 grey metal wheels but the very last issue had 11 x 24 grey plastic wheels.
The earlier models had flat head axles and later dome head axles which both had crimped ends.

There were two casting variations,
The first was to the tipper body and this could have a round or a more squared crossmember under the center of the tipper,
The second was to lenghten the axle brace above the front axle,
The grey metal variants were quite common but the one with grey plastic wheels is very rare,
It was packaged in 'A' or 'B' type boxes and was replaced by the next quarry truck the 6b in 1957.
