Guest Poets

Hi, well this where my friends and visitors get to show off their poetry skills - and no doubt put me to shame....ah well, ho hum! I hope to be up-dating this section on a regular basis (maybe even sneaking in some of my own new poems every once in a while). The rules for submitting work to this section are pretty simple, just send me an e-mail with the poem included within the body of the mail. No attachments sent to this address will be opened. All styles of poetry are welcomed, but please no poems over 100 lines in length,or more than 3 poems at a time, also include your name and if you wish, your location. I will endevour to read poems sent as quickly as I possibly can and reply to you, to let you know or not if your poem has been accepted for inclusion (posting of these works will be at my sole discern and no discussion will be entered into). Copyright of poems remains with the poet. If you require any further information please contact me through the above link.

Back To Cover Page Canvas - by Paul Wright

Dense slabs of crimson
laid down with deft precision

bleeding penetration
into the black.
Scuffed lines
of bristles forced into canvas.

Dark mirror
to swallow.

Wayside - by Paul Wright

You clasp into regrets -
                                      crow,
                                       picking at dead meat,
                                       claws fixed,
                                       locked deep,

                                       head twitching
                                       side to side,
                                       watching,

                                       rotted carrion,
                                       fit for teasing along
                                       one piece
                                       at a time.,

Pearl Baby - By Paul Wright

You present yourself
- my child -
a creature of perfection

pure
untouched
unfaded
by the days

malleable
obedient
willing

flowing along the route
smoothed
for your way.

A mind of your own,
fine,
hold you in good stead,
but here's
a loving warning -

keep to the pattern
enfolding you,
do whatever we want you to.

Grow in love
with love
be good
take good care of yourself
don't ever disappoint.

Then
          one day
                you take
your pure
                    pearl
                              baby body

penetrate it with steel
stain it black and blue
you do what you do.
(who's the adult here?)

Go on -
                        reject your perfection.

                        Tear down
                        those who love you

                        rebel
                        retreat
                        go

to where you want to be.

                        You pour out rejection

                        and I suck it up.

                        You should be frozen
                        preserved
                        in aspic

                        mind
                        body
                        soul
                        child
