If you care for the future of the church in North Ormesby please consider contributing financially. Keeping a Church building and supporting ministry in North Ormesby is an essential but costly activity. Despite popular belief, the Church of England whist having responsibility for many of the nations most historic buildings, receives no money from government taxation. The Church of England pools its money for ministry, training, housing and other central costs and asks each parish to contribute based on factors such as the wealth of the area the parish serves and the size of the congregation (known as parish share). Currently North Ormesby contributes £12,000 a year. On top of this each parish must find the money to heat, light and maintain its own building and work in the community. Some of this money comes from Funeral and wedding fees and fundraising activities but most comes from direct giving. Many Christians through past centuries practised the Biblical standard
of giving one tenth of income (the tithe — 10%). Current Giving Calculator
