First Date Safety Tips

DatesGalore wants your dating experience to be a positive one. However, DatesGalore only provides the initial introduction and stresses that it does not verify the personal details of its participants. You should approach any date resulting from a DatesGalore event with the same caution as you would any other date. There are precautions everyone should take when meeting for a first date and until you know your date better.

Date in Public

Meet in public, and stay in public, until you are sure of your date’s identity and feel comfortable being with them. You should not make yourself vulnerable by being alone with them in an isolated place, going back to their place, or inviting them back to yours.

Arrange your own Transport

Either take your own car (if you know you won’t be drinking alcohol), or arrange your own taxi. Do not, under any circumstances, get into their car.

Check In

Tell someone close where you’re going and what time you expect to be back home. Make arrangements to check in at regular intervals and when you get home.

Tools

Don’t leave home without these 3 tools - mobile phone, personal alarm and excuses – you could need one or more of these.

Trust Instincts

If you feel uneasy about the person you’re with, there’s usually a good reason. If you feel unsafe in any way, don’t give any personal details and don’t arrange a second date – make your excuses and leave.

No Pressure

Someone who is genuine will not try to pressure you in any way, and they will respect your need for safety. If any of your safety measures seem to unnerve or annoy your date, then see that as a cue to leave.
