Introduction



The Gorton Local History Group is a small group of local people who meet every week in an informal setting to swap memories of Gorton and the surrounding areas. It takes place on Tuesday afternoons from 1pm to 3.00pm in Gorton Library. The members are a warm and friendly group, who bring with them a wide range of life experiences. Trips to places of historical interest and visits by local historians to are arranged. New members are always welcome.

If you wish to study a particular subject that interests you, we will give you all the help we can. Materials and publications are available in the library for research. Articles written and submitted by members are collected and published in book form for sale to the public.

If you are interested then come and join us. For more information you can speak to us in person by phoning the library (0161 223 0775) on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3.00pm.
