CW Racing Riders

Pete Loncarevich.

Without argument, is one of the greatest BMXers of all-time. Holder of four ABA No. 1 Pro titles, his first in 1984, his second pro title in 1986, and then two No.1’s-in-a-row during 1991 and ’92. First raced BMX in 1976--as an 11 novice. Won his first national at Corona in ’78. Riding for S&S, Pete earned his first No. 1 in the BMXL-before it was bought by ABA. As an amateur, was part of the dominant Diamondback force from 1980 until 1982. Turned pro in LRP (Loncarevich Racing Products). Signed with CW Racing, riding for them from late-’83 to 1986. In a shocking move, Pete appeared in a Haro jersey at the 1985 Grands-a "breach of contract" court battle with CW ensued. In 1987, participated in F-1 Racing for Haro. Faded out of BMX in 1989, working a "regular job" for six months, before coming back to BMX with long hair and tattoos. With support from Vans, Pistol took two his last two No. 1 Pro titles.

Unofficially retired from BMX in ’94, but came back for the ’95 Grands to win the "Masters" class. Discovered mountain bike racing in ’94 and is today, is one of the biggest names in dual slalom, riding for Parkpre.

Mike "Hollywood" Miranda.

One of the sports’ most flamboyant pros, "Hollywood" Mike helped put CW Racing and Hutch bikes on the map with his on-track style, professionalism and off-track personality. Winner of the 1986 Nora Cup. Along with JT Racing and Hutch, is responsible for making "pink" a common color in the mid-80’s. Starred-in and stood out in the movie "RAD." Today, Mike is a golf pro in Southern California, and goes by his real father’s last name; Mike Felvey.

Robert Macpherson

When “BigMac” showed up at the fall nationals in ‘94, the last time we’d seen him was as a fast 14x riding for CW, winning the ‘85 Grands. It’d been nearly 10 years since his mysterious disappearance. But he returned with a vengeance and went on to win the ABA No.1 Amateur plate in his first full year back. Checking off that box on his list of goals, MacFearsome announced he’d turn pro, and eleven months later, he was in the hunt for the No.1 Pro championship.

Billy Griggs

At the beginning of the 90’s, Mr.Bill was out to prove that, against all odds, he had what it takes to become No.1 Pro. And he came darn close. But toward the later half of this century, Griggs has proved to all that there is life after BMX, in BMX. As GT’s current R&D rider, engineer and designer, Billy is leading again; only this time it’s in unique frame designs and products.

Todd Lyons

Todd was dropped by CW for falling at the NBL Grands in 1988
another rider who went down also asked Todd if he could get 7th Todd said, go for it I'm going for air........ Had Todd taken 7th CW would have won the number one team as it turned out they came up two points shy losing to GT.

Charles Townsend

Jerrett Justice

Todd Tompkins

Debbi Kalsow-Edwards

Was the first ABA National number one female and rode for CW.

Clarence "Earthquake" Perry

In the 1980’s, Perry was recruited by CW owner Roger Worsham. At this point, he got his sponsorship and turned pro. He made top 10 as a pro in the mid-1980’s, and scored as high as number four overall in the sport in 1984. He was consistent in riding with the CW team until his retirement from racing in 1985.

He was from Washington state. Raced cruiser very successfully. I think that was the old 26 inch cruiser that CW first made. #1 in his home state.

More information about Perry can be found on page 7 of this document. featured in the Bicyclepaper.

CW-Kid,

I really enjoyed your website!  I raced BMX from 1980-1983 and rode for CW in 82-83 in the 16 & over girls class.  I was ABA nat'l 4 and NBL nat'l 10 before retiring in 83.  I have attached some pictures for your site if you would like them.

Saw your website honouring CW Racing. It brought back allot of memories. I
noticed you had a list of CW Factory Team riders on your site. I, too, was a
CW Factory team rider from 1981 thru 1983. I was one of the first East Coast
riders sponsored by CW. I was picked up by CW after Tripling at the 1981 ABA
Fall Nationals Sponsored by SABER. If you have any questions please let me
know. I spent part of a summer living at Roger Worshams house and working in
the CW Factory before going on the Summer tour with the team. Thanks for
your time.

I have attached a few pics. The first one is at Howell NJ NBL National, the
second is me and Jarrett Justice and the third is me next to John Tomac.
