Lake Rawlings, Virginia

Not all of the sites are named. We named the sunken school bus "Wayne" because it was made by the Wayne Bus Company (the company plate remains intact at the rear of the bus). All of the sunken boats have names. We named the newest sunken sailboat shell The Replacements because it was used by none other than Keanu Reaves when cleaning the hull in the Warner Brothers production of the same name. Warner Brothers filmed the underwater scene from that movie at our scuba park. We also have an End-of-the-Road display which consists of a street sign, mailbox, end-of-road barrier (the drop-off on the deep side drops from 20' to 55' on a sheer, vertical rock wall), and a sunken automobile with lots of fish living inside. There is also a sunken basketball goal with hoop intact, which is a favorite site for the basketball/scuba enthusiasts (who 'got' game in their heart, but no vertical leap). Dense water makes any good diver an excellent "basket stuffer or dunker"! One of my favorite dive sites is the vertical standing open cockpit boat (standing on stern end). This boat is about 36' long sunk in 50' of water - the bow end is about 15' from the surface. I love this dive - it blows everyone away.

There is a dive center on-site (we call it the Dive Shack). We have a full line of scuba equipment rentals; we do air fills; rent scuba cylinders (tanks); sell PADI educational/training materials & offer scuba lessons; rent electrical hook-ups for RV's/campers; and sell souvenir/gift items. We also have several electrified campsites, and numerous primitive campsites for groups. For patron comfort, there are several port-a-johns on-site, and an open air changing station that affords privacy when changing clothes. Pets are welcome, but are restricted to the camping or parking area of the scuba park, and must remain on a leash when walked by the owner(s).
