Well, here we are again after a couple of years of little development on Borg. Of course thats not a couple of years without doing anything, and I am now ready to continue what I had started having taken some time to do other things. One of those things was of course the good old Quake and Hexen2 bots with the development of the AI and pathfinding algorithms being such great fun ;).
It's a pity that I am still not working in the computer business as such, noone seems interested in even asking me to interview, so I suppose there must be some very good coders out there, but I am about to finish my MSc in Pure Maths and so maybe things will change, who knows, but if you're a prospective employer looking for a programmer with 20 years of experience (I started coding when I was 14), and want a guy with BSc Hons in Maths, and an MSc to come, in the UK, then here I am ;) You want examples of my work, there is the bots and my PQ site, and there is Borg and whatever else I dig up to put on here.
I can remember when I started coding - I had a TRS80 model 1, and a grand total of 4 programs for it. As you can imagine I soon became bored and started poking into every corner until I had hand disassembled the 12k Z80 ROM and all the programs too. I wrote my first compiler when I was 15 ;) It was actually a FORTH TIL, and written in ASM, fantastic stuff ;)
Anyway, enough reminiscing, you want a real life story then email me :)
On to Borg since most of this website will be built around it. I started Borg a couple of years ago, and wrote a static disassembler, Borg 1. It was ok, and it did some great stuff, like codeflow analysis. What I really wanted though was an interactive disassembler. Nothing else was good enough. So I started writing Borg2 and after 16 releases it was looking good. Then I stopped development and went on a complete journey through other coding - games and internet coding, before returning now to develop Borg further. Of course that isn't entirely true since I did some coding on Borg a couple of months ago, and have done more work this week. The next release is really going to see some improvements. But in the meantime, please Email me with your top ten wanted developments for Borg2 and I'll see what I can do.
