Shrug directions

Shrugs are elbow-length 'back warmers' that were popular in the 'fifites
for evening wear, though they were used as bedjackets in the 'thirties.

Make a rectangle of fabric, about 18" deep and long enough to stretch
elbow-to-elbow with the arms outstretched - usually around 30". Then,
join each short end corner-to-corner
(imagine folding your rectangle in half, lengthways, to give 9" x 30", then
just nicking the touching corners to each other)
and make a cuff at each end - say around 3-5" long.
