- Mabel told Vic Woods that Arthur was killed in the First War, shot through the lungs.
"Soldiers Who Died In The Great War" lists:
Volume 51, Northamptonshire Regiment, 6th Battalion, Arthur Beeby, enlisted in Peterborough (no birthplace shown), army number 25187, Private, killed in action, France and Flanders 3rd May 1917.
It seems quite likely that this is the right Arthur but needs to be thoroughly checked.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission tell me that Arthur Beeby is buried in France and his name is shown on the Arras Memorial in France,in bay 7 with the Northamptonshire Regiment.
