What plastic is fantastic?
Truth be told, there are very limited opportunities for recycling certain types of plastic. What plastic can we recycle at Park Court?

Plastics are usually marked by a number in a triangle (1 to 7), but only numbers 1,2 and 3 are recyclable. The numbers indicate the polymer type of the plastic. The three polymer types used are PETE (e.g. fizzy drink bottles and squash bottles), HDPE (e.g. milk bottles and detergent bottles) and PVC (e.g. large squash bottles), although the use of PVC in such applications is in decline.

Items such as margarine tubs and rigid food containers are made from a very wide range of polymers, many of which are blends. These are much more difficult to identify and separate efficiently.

So if you cannot see the number, or are unsure, it’s better not to recycle those particular items if you want to help the recycling plant.
