November 2001

3rd & 4th November saw Jessica compete in the voluntary round of the British Age Group Championships Level 4 in Guildford. The title of British Champion went to the gymnast with the highest combined score from both the voluntary and compulsory competitions.

Unfortunately the South West team's result, finishing a disappointing 7th, did not mirror their success in May. Hopefully we can rectify this when Shannon Morse and Jessa Powell are back to full fitness! Hopefully 2002 will see the South West team once again made up only of gymnasts from Jessica's club.

Jessica's performance was solid on all 4 pieces. She achieved top score on bars, giving her the highest score on that apparatus for the year when combined with her score from May. Jessica was in first position at the end of the morning round, though we knew there was some strong competition to come in the second round. Rebecca Wing from South Region who had taken Gold in May managed to keep her nose ahead beating Jessica by exactly 0.2 points. Jessica finished with a well-earned Silver Medal in the voluntary competition and Silver in the Level 4 British Championship.

September 2001

Jessica's club hosted the Alpha Factor Brenda Smith Cup over the weekend of 8th & 9th September. Clubs from all over the country competed as well as clubs from from Germany and Norway. 25 clubs took part with almost half of them competing for the Brenda Smith Club Trophy.

Jessica competed in the Level 4 competition finishing second  behind club mate Jessa Powell. Olivia Grout and Francesca Fox, also from Wiltshire School came fourth and eleventh. Jessica also won apparatus medals on beam (silver) and vault (bronze). Her team mates also took apparatus medals putting the club in a good position at the end of the first competition.

The club did well in all age groups and levels. When all competitions had been completed team totals were calculated by adding together the scores from each competition for each club. Wiltshire School of Gymnastics achieved the highest score and therefore won the Brenda Smith Cup. Wiltshire was well in front of Park Wrekin gymnastics club who came second.
