Why Pinball ?
I have always been a sad arcade bod longer than I care to
remember, and after the demise of what I consider to be the all
time great arcade classics i.e. Space
Invaders, Galaxians
etc, fewer and fewer games held my attention!.
Each time a new game cab arrived at my local arcade it was
either a SF clone, gun game or yet et another racing simulator,
these
were ok but didn't quite give me the buzz I was looking for. I
even tried my hand at fruit machines but holding my
plums...ooh er missus was the most enjoyment I got out
of those pointless money pits. Eventually I turned my hand to a game of
pinball or two and quickly found out how addictive these
machines really were. Pretty soon it
was the Pinball's that drove me back
to the arcades time and time again, ah how great it was to be
back in Arcade Heaven. All this happened during
the late 80`s into the early 90's ending with me biting
the bullet and buying my very own pinball and still one of my
favorite tables of all time Funhouse, it was only six months
old and cost me a whopping £1,750 in
1991.
Ten years on from my
Funhouse acquisition (long
gone by now!) I had a hankering for another table
and with the advent of the internet we have today parts
and maintenance seemed so much easier. So began my search, and
before long I was picking up a
Williams STTNG I had won off eBay.
Acquiring the table was the easy
part, finding replacement bits was a
different matter! Trawling around the WWW
opened a whole new world with lots of good sites but I soon
came to the conclusion that what was lacking was a good
enthusiasts site, hence is my attempt at
this one!.
I hope it provides you with the information you are looking
for whether you are a fellow pinhead like me or just getting
into this awesome hobby. Either way I will be happy if it
steers a few people in the right
direction avoiding some of the pitfalls
that I've encountered
along the way.
Bally v Williams
Same company really
as they merged in the late 80,s.
My site will only cover pinball's
manufactured between 1990 to their sad demise in
Sept 2000. These
are the tables I spent my youth and
hard earned on. There are literally
hundreds of machines from a dozen or so other manufacturers!
but quite frankly Bally
& Williams
in my opinion were generally the
best pinball's ever made for both quality
and playability.
Please note
Pinballer.com has been designed for
broadband internet users with lots of intense eye candy to
show how beautiful these machines truly are.
My apologies in advance for modem users, please bookmark this
site to improve speed on future visits.
Thanks for taking the time to
read a little background on myself,
now enter the world of the
Pinballer...enjoy! |
