2000 Miles in 48 hours in a 34 year Old Classic car

                  In aid of

Round Britain Reliability Run

This may sound like a crazy idea but it is for Charity.  Andy Cook and Mark Bland will be taking part in the Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability run in October 2010 using Mark's 1974 Triumph 2500S. This charity fund raising event which has been held bi-annually since 1966 starts and ends in London on a trip around the British mainland on a route via John O'Groats and Lands End. In order to qualify for a successful completion the entrants need to visit 18 pre arranged check points within 48 hours, a distance of around 2,000 miles. Sponsorship for this event is donated to a different chosen charity each year All entrants fund the expenses for the journey and entry fee out of their own pockets ensuring that all sponsorship funds are donated to the charity. This year 100 Classic Triumph cars will attempt the journey and will be raising money for the charity Mind, the combined sponsorship target is to raise at least £50,000 so if you are willing to sponsor Andy it would be really appreciated.

Mark's Car will look like this by the time we do the run                    RBRR Team 30 Mark Bland and Andy Cook

(It's under restoration at the moment!)                                               (Shame about the shirts!)

This is the 3rd time Andy has entered this event, the previous two occasions Andy used his own Triumph a 1971 GT6 for an article on his successful achievement the first time around in 2006 click here.

If you would like to pledge your sponsorship please visit my just giving fundraising page http://www.justgiving.com/RBRR2010-Andy-Cook . Donating through Just giving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Mind gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. This is therefore my preferred method of sponsorship, however if you would rather not use justgiving but would still like to sponsor me the please contact me via email andy@cookiehome.co.uk .

Note for anyone who may have concerns that this event is not very green with 100 cars polluting the atmosphere with carbon dioxide please note that  this year the organisers are  attempting to make the event Carbon Neutral. It has been calculated that each car will produce carbon that costs £10.00 to neutralise and to fund this £10.00 will be donated to an organisation called ‘Climate Care’ who will use this money wisely for a variety of environmental measures. Note that this donation will be taken from the entry fee and Club Triumph and will not impact the sponsorship funds.
