Our second wedding took place on the 18th February 2006 at the Baguio Country Club, Baguio City, Luzon, Philippines.
Since the original wedding was such a small (if beautiful) affair, and especially since none of our families were present, we decided to have a second wedding in the Philippines. Donna's family and friends were able to attend and it was a good opportunity for my parents to experience Donna's country and to meet her family. Donna worked hard to make sure that it was an elegant affair. Baguio is 250km north of Manila and about an hour inland from Donna's hometown of San Fernando. It is about a mile above sea level and so relatively cool and perched in dramatic mountain scenery. Unlike the first wedding there were lots of Donna's friends and family there. Also, joining from England, were Conrad's Mom and Dad and friends Bruce, Paul, Ced, Rob, Ann and Neil. |
The UK lads (and laddess) were fresh (not) from a 4 day whirlwind tour of some of the sights of Southern Luzon. It seemed like much longer.

The Wedding DayThe wedding ceremony was outside in the garden of the Baguio Country Club. The alter was covered in flowers as was the aisle leading to it between rows of chairs. Behind could be seen the mountains and in front was a wall of plants and flowers before the golf course. The main Club building, swimming pool and hall were nearby.Bridesmaids, groomsmen, flowergirls, parents, etc. lined up for the procession and when the bride arrived 15 minutes late it all began. Music was provided a capella by the excellent choir, Vox Manila. Finally the bride entered accompanied by a sung version of the traditional wedding march. The ministers were protestant from San Fernando. The ceremony went smoothly except for the wind preventing the candles from being lit (Bruce even burnt his finger trying) and us both getting a bit emotional at the point where we said our self-written vows. There were no hymns sung by the congregation as the musical accompaniment was provided by the choir. At the end, caged doves were released into the air. Donna and I posed for a range of pictorials while the guests went inside for cocktails and sushi. We joined the cocktails later and did the rounds meeting and greeting before all except us entered the main hall. Donna's friends Alec and Crisel were MCs (thanks guys) and spoke as people got to their seats. The band did a few numbers. Time for our grand entrance as we were introduced to the gathering. The room was beautifully decorated. I was shocked when Donna picked up a mike to begin a song but relieved that I didn't have to join in. It brought tears to my eyes when Donna sang a love song to me there and then. I'm told there were a few other tears in the house. The lyrics are to the right. We sat down but soon were up again for the cake cutting and champagne toast. There were many pictures being taken and we were required to kiss often for the cameras. Gary had a frequent job reapplying the lipstick. Food was served and later followed by the speeches. Donna's Mom gave a beautiful one that was obviously well planned. Mine got conveniently forgotten. Bruce and Melady (best man and Matron of honour) did their duty and thanks that Bruce was quite restrained. Then came the bouquet and garter game. I removed a hidden pair of panties before the garter from Donna's leg to try to get a laugh. Neil, winning the garter, was very nervous as he placed it onto the leg of a girl that he considered much too young. For her part, she looked terrified too. The "kissing game" was another surprise to me. We picked the names of three couples at random. They then had to go to the front and demostrate how to kiss. We then had to copy them. Mom and Dad (Brian and Pauline) provided the greatest challenge. We thought they'd never stop. Then it came to the first dance. I chickened out of our previous plans of doing salsa as we hadn't practiced and so we did something slow and smoochy. We were soon joined by Mom and Dad before others joined the dance floor. The party had begun.... I could go on and on but rather I will say briefly that we had a great time. Meeting people, dancing, drinking, eating, nice music. Thanks to everyone that came and even more so to those of you that helped this day happen (see right for companies involved). We hope you enjoyed it even half as much as we did. |
How Did You Know?(The song Donna sang to me)Click HERE if you want to see a video clip of the song (3.45Mb).
I remember so well The day that you came into my life You asked for my name You had the most beautiful smile My life started to change I'd wake up each day feeling alright With you right by my side Makes me feel things will work out just fine How did you know I needed someone like you in my life That there's an empty space in my heart You came at the right time in my life I'll never forget How you brought the sun to shine in my life And took all the worries and fears that I had I guess what I'm really trying to say It's not everyday that someone like you comes my way No words can express how much I love you How did you know I needed someone like you in my life That there's an empty space in my heart You came at the right time in my life --------------------------------------------- For more wedding pictures try here or here For pictures of the pre-wedding Luzon tour see here or see our Philippines 2006 page.
