We spent a week in Nepal
It is only an hour's flight from Dhaka and so well worth a trip. We were mainly in Kathmandu and stayed in the Kathmandu Guesthouse in Thamel. However, we also spent two nights up in the hills in Nagarcot and also went for a day rafting.
It's a pity that we didn't really get into the Himalaya but from our window in Nagarcot we could see 8000m high mountains when they peeped from the cloud. Even at a distance they looked amazingly high.
Kathmandu is like no other city I've been to. Beautiful old temples and other old buildings. Interesting sites and people. Good night life.
We bought a few things like outdoor clothing, some carpets, masks, etc. and visited a carpet factory staffed by Tibetan refugees.
Visaraj, the brother of our friend in Dhaka, Navaraj, showed us around one evening and their mother, known as Amma, cooked a wonderful Nepali meal for us.
