Gummett Family Reunions

After Aunty Gwen died in September 1985, many of the ten Gummett children travelled from London to Wales for the funeral in a minibus. This brought back many memories of family holidays in the old blue and white Bedford van, and it was agreed that whatever happened, funerals were not going to be the only times that we all got together in the future.

So, in October 1986 - with baby Stuart barely two weeks old - we planned a huge get-together for Mum & Dad's Ruby Wedding Anniversary, which was held at David's parish of Beckenham. From there. we decided to arrange annual camping reunions, and as the site of the colliery in Mum's welsh valley was being developed as a country park and campsite, that was the obvious place to go.

The August Bank Holiday 1987 saw the first of our (now traditional) family reunions at Parc-cwm-Darran in Deri.

Over the years, the reunion has been the venue for introductions of many new members of the family to the rest - boyfriends, girlfriends and of course, lots and lots of babies! Now the tiny dots of the earliest years' reunions are becoming parents themselves! See for yourself how this family has grown and changed...
