Welcome to Stibasa! The site is about sustainable transport, particularly cycling, but it is also about sustainable living.
It is focussed on Barking, where I live, but broadens to LB Barking & Dagenham and wider, sometimes. It acts as a website for the
local branch of the
London Cycling Campaign, and I am am also a Local Cyclists' Right to Ride Representative
for
CTC.
The
rides and events listed are mainly local LCC rides starting in east London (that's east of the River Lee,
and North of the Thames, for me) but also other local events in LB Barking & Dagenham, especially if they have a sustainability
theme.
I'm interested in public transport, as you will gather, and I tried to maintain a site about
Barking
Station, particularly as no-one else had a comprehensive and accurate one, but now I find that Wikipedia's page is good.
I'm also interested in technology, particularly where it is used for
sustainability. The basic package for mainstream sustainable living, for me, is: folding bike, mobile phone, broadband and
Oyster card.
I was aiming gradually to rework and transfer material from the
old stibasa site, but I rarely find time. I now enter helpful, interesting and entertaining snippets (I hope) onto
my blog.
I'm pleased to receive helpful
comments and corrections.
Colin Newman.
