BUILDING AND FABRIC

St Mary's is a Georgian Building, opened in 1831 and expanded in the 1920s. During the 21st Century it has undergone much restoration in keeping with the recommendations of the Georgian Group. In early 2006 the reredos in the Resurrection Chapel, was restored.

The tower has a ring of 8 bells, regularly rung, and a ninth bell of 1480 now only used for tolling.

Inside, a set of painted Stations of the Cross, restored in 2003, is particularly special - photographs of them are used throughout our website. The High Altar is traditional with 6 candles, though a nave altar is used from time-to-time.

The two-manual organ by Holditch, lofted on the north side of the chancel, is tracker action.
