MUSICAL DIRECTOR

As Musical Director of
THE MELJON SINGERS,
JANETTE RUOCCO has shaped the development of the
group since its inception. A graduate of Sheffield University, Janette also holds an MA in Choral Education, and is a practitioner council member of the
Association of British Choral Directors.
She is Vocal and Choral Development Manager for
Essex Music Services and her busy freelance career embraces conducting, choral workshops, composing and
music journalism.
Janette has a passionate and wide-ranging interest in vocal music. With
THE MELJON SINGERS she has pioneered a creative form of concert
programming which draws
together music, themes and ideas in unexpected and enlightening ways. As an educator as well as an accomplished conductor, she seeks to enhance the experience of
singers and audiences, championing unjustly neglected composers and exploring the rich diversity of new choral writing, as well as revisiting well-known gems of the
repertoire.
Janette's own compositions include several works for the
THE MELJON SINGERS, as well as cantatas such as the multi-media "Swallow
Tale"
for performance in schools, and many other sacred and secular pieces.
THE MELJON SINGERS'
CD
Inner Harmonies includes her setting of
Psalm 23.
