News Update
2. NEW short led walks for Lincoln RA Group.
3. 20s - 30s Walking Group.
If you are aged around 20 to 40 and prefer to walk most of the time with your own age group rather than with the more senior RA members why not consider joining the Lincolnshire Walking Group. This Group is part of the Lincolnshire Area RA but it draws its membership from the whole county rather than local districts as is the case with the normal Groups. This Group offers you an easy way to make new friends and enjoy the great outdoors with a wide variety of walks ranging from easy rambles to energetic mountain hikes. It also holds regular social events at least once a month. To learn more visit the web site www.lincswalkinggroup.org.uk or phone Stuart Parker on 01522 534655
4. Lincolnshire footpath and bridleway map on the web. Lincolnshire County Council now have on their website a new online tool, launched in March 2006, which enables you to find routes and open areas with public access for walking, cycling and riding in Lincolnshire. You can zoom in and out at different scales, and find locations by village name, or postcode. You can access the map via the link to the Countryside Access Map page: http://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/section.asp?catId=9854 Once on this page, reach the map itself by going to the bottom and clicking countryside Access Map in the External Weblinks Box. This map is very useful to those planning walking cycling or horse riding routes. The buttons on the map give the following: Location - This button shows you location within Lincolnshire on a county outline map Info - Provides information on a route such as path reference, legal status and length ![]() Key - Use the drop down to select what you want to see by activity (walking, cycling and riding routes) Find - Search for paths by village name, postcode or path reference.
Interactive web walks. As a spin-off from the above map facility the county council has produced some interactive 'webwalk' versions of their new walk leaflet series. On the Countryside Access Map page click the 'Lincolnshire Walks' link. On the new page are the walk leaflets now available. Those with a webwalk version are marked with an asterisk. On the maps of the walks you can click on marked points to see a photo of the item, be it a view, a stile or even a waymarker. The type of surface is also shown. Finally, the County Council is keen to hear your comments and suggestions on the site.
