Tunisia has been used as a location by many films, mainly French and Arabic, but even Hollywood has been
known to film there! My interest in the Sahara was probably triggered when I saw Star Wars, right from that
dewback-mounted sandtrooper moment.... and then some on-location photos in the Marvel Star Wars Special.
I hope to share some of the information I've picked up over the years searching for and photographing
these often seen but seldom visited locations. Hopefully there should be enough here for you to plan your
own journey.
Here are some famous (and not so famous) films that have been filmed in
Tunisia.
The Little Prince (1974)
Star Wars (1977)
Jesus of Nazareth (1977)
Monty Python's The Life Of Brian (1979)
Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981)
The English Patient (1996)
The Phantom Menace (1999)
Keltoum's Daughter (Bent Keltoum) (2001)
Attack Of The Clones (2002)
The Tiger And The Snow (La Tigre E La Neve) (2005)
House Of Saddam (2008) TV mini-series
