Nova 40

Wingspan: 65 inches

Engine: OS 46la

Type: four channel trainer

Description
An ARTF model bought as a birthday present for my son, that has proved itself to be a good beginners flying machine, although the quality of construction can easily be faulted.
However, a little extra white wood glue when we were putting it together soon fixed any problems, and the only problem since then has been that the long hours it has flown have managed to wear out two engines.

I was pleasantly suprised by just how easy it was to fly, and its large wingspan means you can easily keep it "two-mistakes high" as they say. The nose wheel of the tricycle undercarriage tends to bend back, especially when landing on grass, but that is hardly suprising. I guess that the wire of the nose wheel will start to bend even more as the plane ages, the number of landings increases, and a bit of metal fatigue sets in.

Engine
I find it difficult to fault the la range of engines from OS, they are good value no nonesense, reliable, easy to operate engines, that have enough power to suit most models.

Score: 8 out of 10

Most exciting moment
Although my son has been flying models of a variety of types for some years, this was the the first plane he could call his own. Flying r/c always provides some exciting moments, and there have been two low-level, full-throttle, pointing at the ground incidents that I can think of. However, so far the plane has survived all we can throw at it, and only shows signs of fuel ingress and the dreaded hanger rash give it's age away.
