Hype
Wingspan: 1520mm
Length: 1560mm Engine: Saito 72 Black Knight Type: fun fly Description This is a very large, yet incredibly light aeroplane, and so far it is my only foray into the ARTF market. Despite the fact that the undercarriage area needed strengthening, and several areas in the wings are not glued together when they clearly should be, the Hype is a fantastic aeroplane to fly. The very low wing-loading means that it can be flown incredibly slowly, and with the control throws cranked up to their most extreme, some very strange aerobatics are possible. I have yet to get the best out of the Hype, and the Saito is still not run-in, so I cannot report fully on its capabilities. However, so far it has been a pleasure and I am looking forward to many more flights, loads more extreme gyrations, and more practice at prop-hanging. EngineThe Saito is my first four-stroke engine it is absolutely fabulous. It is easy to start, quiet, and just about powerful enough to prop-hang the Hype. As it is not fully run-in I expect to see more power output over the next few months. Score: 8 out of 10 Most exciting moment None yet, but my friend has had a Hype for much longer than me and he has managed to break the wings in half in flight on two occassions whilst trying some outrageous manoeuvres, and also has broken half the tail-plane off in the middle of another rather violent manoeuvre, which made landing quite a challenge! Some of the damage can be seen here.
