The Story so far.......
The company first started out as a group of like minded individuals who could no longer obtain fuel after the fuelling arrangements at Durham Tees Valley Airport changed in 2008. The group got together to form an alliance to negotiate with the new refuelling operators ASIG. A deal was struck to enable private aircraft to come together and purchase fuel using one account. This account was in the name of 'DTVA Private Aircraft Owners Group' in which a large number of privately owned aircraft based at the airport joined. The added benefits of working together also allowed the group to use it's bulk buying power to further reduce the fuel costs.
As time went on, hangarage became an ever increasing concern for private aircraft owners, so with the current hangarage lease coming up for renewal, the group made an offer for the new lease.
After long negotiations with Durham Tees Valley Airport, the company finally secured the lease of Hangar 3 at the airport for the use of General Aviation. At this point, the original group was turned into a limited company and DTVA Private Aircraft Owners Ltd was formed.
It was decided at the outset that the main criteria for hangarage would be ease of access for all aircraft owners. This allowed any aircraft to move in or out of the hangar without having to move any other aircraft.This has been achieved without any of the private aircraft owners needing to move out of their current home in Hangar 3.
