'Thank God It's Friday' (1978). A musical joint venture between Casablanca Records and Filmworks and Motown Records.

This film established Casblanca's film-making status - which was soon consolidated by the huge success of 'Midnight Express'.

Thank God It's Friday

Giorgio Moroder, Donna Summer and Pete Bellotte supplied three tracks for the 1978 soundtrack album of 'Thank God It's Friday': 'With Your Love' whose chorus sounds reminiscent of 'I Feel Love', an epic fifteen minute version of Serge Gainsbourg's notorious 'Je T'Aime' and 'Last Dance'.

'Last Dance' was highly successful in the US where it won an Oscar for its young composer Paul Jabara who went on to write 'No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)' for Donna Summer and Barbra Streisand (1979), 'Never Ever Lose Your Sense Of Humor' a duet for himself and Donna Summer (1979) as well as 'It's Raining Men' for the Weather Girls.

Moroder and Bellotte's involvement with 'Thank God It's Friday' extended to two other tracks: 'I Wanna Dance' an instrumental piece written and produced by Bellotte, whilst Moroder provided a re-edited version of his 'From Here To Eternity' featuring a unique instrumental section. (Sadly, this track does not appear on the soundtrack album and can only be heard within the film.)

Diana Ross, The Commodores and Thelma Houston also contributed songs to the film soundtrack. The film itself is notable for featuring a young Jeff Goldblum.
