Album cover artwork from 'Watch Out' (1977) by Trax. Produced by Pete Bellotte, arranged by Thor Baldursson and engineered by Juergen Koppers it features one track co-written with Moroder. |
Trax Trax was drummer and percussionist Keith Forsey (left) and Pete Bellotte (right). The 'Watch Out' album, in addition to the 16 minute 'Watch Out For The Boogie Man', contained 'Any Way You Want It' which listed Forsey, along with Moroder and Bellotte, as the song's writers - an indication of Forsey's growing influence within the Moroder/Bellotte partnership. Trax were destined to make only two albums but, away from Moroder, Bellotte continued to write and produce albums for people such as Melba Moore, Elton John and Stainless Steel whose 'Can-Can' album was a Munich Machine-style disco interpretation of Offenbach's classical melodies. In a 1979 interview with BBC Radio 1's Kid Jensen Bellotte explained that, in the studio, Moroder was focusing more and more on producing the electronics while he took responsibility for producing the accoustic 'real' sounds. Naturally, their work with Donna Summer continued together - until the 1981 ill-fated 'I'm A Rainbow' album (unreleased until 1996) which marked the end of the trio's successful partnership. Moroder and Bellotte worked closely together on Moroder's 1984 reconstruction of Fritz Lang's expressionist film classic 'Metropolis', for which Bellotte supplied several lyrics, but their working partnership dwindled through the 1980s.
