Paul Wallen 3rd Dan

I began training in 1986 at the age of six. I have competed in a number of Competitions with mixed results. Recently passing my Welsh Karate Governing Body level Two Coaching Qualification has enabled me to open a successful class in Caerphilly Leisure Centre. I have organised Competitions for the Caerphilly area and have completed a refereeing and judges course for kumite and kata. I have achieved a second Dan in Shotokan Karate and passed my NVQ level 2 in sports coaching and heath and Safety with English Karate Governing Body (EKGB)

I asked my father recently why I first started doing karate, he said that when I was younger I would be watching TV and would copy the kicks and punches I had seen. He got so tied of telling me off that he said if I were going to do it I would learn it properly. Over the years martial arts have given me confidence in my every day life, it has help me stay out of trouble and made my lifestyle healthier. I new that some day I would want to teach others karate, I am now doing and have brought a different dimension to my knowledge of karate and understanding of people. My father says it the best thing he has done for me.
