During 2000 Bittern was purchased by a London businessman from Tony Marchington and is now to reside at the Mid-Hants Railway (AKA the Watercress Line) for a major restoration. Once complete Bittern will run on the line between Alton and Alresford and on the mainline. The Mid Hants Railway (MHR) has a contract for the overhaul of Bittern which tasks the MHR to refurbish Bittern to full MT276 standard for use on Railtrack. It will of course run on the Mid Hants also, but it is envisaged that there will be considerable demand for mainline use. The MHR will also be responsible for marketing Bittern for mainline use so all enquiries for hiring Bittern should be addressed to MHR. Bittern will upon completion be running as Bittern (not Silver Link) and will be finished in BR green as 60019.
