Wind noise is a nearly perpetual factor in natural sound recording. The recordist's challenge is to minimize the magnitude of such noise relative to the desired signal being recorded. Parabolic reflectors, aimed into the wind, create a small lee for the microphone. That is good, but you can do even better by adding a windscreen over the entire reflector.
For about $20 and an hour or so of work you can have a dandy stereo bar that will save you countless hours in the studio and give you a great stereo image with excellent spatial localization every time.

The International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA) was established in 1969 in Amsterdam to function as a medium for international cooperation between archives that preserve recorded sound and audiovisual documents.
AIR is a diverse membership alliance of independent producers, programmers, marketers, stations, networks, media arts centers, attorneys, teachers... in short, anyone committed to creativity and vision in public radio.
The Nature Sounds Society is a worldwide organization whose principal purpose is to encourage the preservation, appreciation and creative use of natural sounds.
The statutes on the inception of the federation were: Worldwide promotion of sound and video recording (on magnetic material).
- Promotion of international relations among amateur tape recordists and assistance in the founding of clubs and associations.
- Representing the interests of sound recording amateurs in discussions with radio and TV stations, the recording industry, copyright holders, etc.
