Swinton Running Club
Club Awards
We have 3 types of awards:
Alan
Roughley Award
This is awarded to any club member who epitomises the spirit of the club, as
Alan did.
This is awarded in June each year to the club member of the year whom the
other members feel has contributed most to the club during the proceeding
year. Every club member has one vote and the recipient of the trophy is the
person with the highest number of votes.
Stuart Yaffe Award
Stuart was a member of the club for a number of years and was always active
in the club events and races. All those who were members at the time felt
his untimely death and with his wife Pat, we agreed to remember him through
this award.
This trophy is awarded annually to the winner of the self-timed run: not the
first across the line, but the runner whose finishing time is closest to
their estimate. In 1994 we introduced a second trophy to recognise both the
men and women’s winners.
For winners who have won the trophy
Rees
Thomas Award
Rees Thomas died in 1984 and his memory lives on every quarter with the Rees
Thomas Runner of the Quarter award.
