Here are some of the pictures and videos of the

Billingham Blue Tits

2007

Most pictures are links to short (10 second) video clips taken on the same day as the photograph.

Depending on your Internet browser and the software on your computer you may have problems viewing some of the clips.

I can recommend Media Player Classis which I downloaded from here, it seems to play just about anything.

But please don't hold me responsible if it doesn't work for you.

6th April 2007

This is one of the first times we see Ross and Rachel in the box together.

Like a lot of couples setting up home they seem to squabble quite a lot.

7th April 2007

This is 1 day later and we can see Rachel bringing in some course nesting material.

9th April 2007

Just to show that not all the material brought in is thought to be suitable, she takes some back out again.

(Probably a bit brought in by Ross)

11th April 2007

The box is filling up.  Here is another clip of both birds together.

14th April 2007

She seems to have found a stash of soft looking material from somewhere.

21st April 2007.

Lastly some fluffy white feathers just to finish it off.

No video with this one.

At this point we went away for a long weekend and nothing was recorded for 4 days.  But Rachel had taken to sleeping in the box, going to bed each night at about 8pm, and we suspected that it wouldn't be long before things moved on.

When we returned it looked like nothing had changed as when she left the box there was nothing to see.

But she was keeping a secret and covering it up with nesting material.

No videos here - just pictures.

So that was it,  7 eggs in total.  From here she sat on the eggs for most of the time,

being fed occasionally by Ross but most of the time going out for her own food.

15th May 2007

15 days since the first egg was laid, one of them hatches.

16 May 2007

By 6pm the following day we think all the eggs had hatched, although we could only see 6 chicks at a time.

17 May 2007

It is very difficult to catch all 7 babies in view at any one time as they all move about so much.

18 May 2007

This is the first definite view we had that all 7 eggs had hatched.
