This letter is dated 9th April 1932 and a Mr A.A.Kightly wrote to the Evening Telegraph after having read letters in it about a possible formation of a radio club in Kettering. The radio club was probably formed soon after, the exact date we're not sure of, but it was definately running in 1935
The start of something good...
get that calculator out, pity it doesn't do pounds, shillings and pence!
Here is a treasurer's report from 1935.

Sometimes, they had to try to find out why members didn't come to the meetings anymore. It goes on to say that they had just bought a special short wave receiver and several members were doing some interesting 5 meter work? We have no idea what date this letter is from, but is very relevant even today !!
Why don't you come anymore?
Any ideas when this was?
A radio exhibition was held, we don't know where or when - can anyone enlighten us? "It must be clearly understood that attention must not be drawn towards any show, display or exhibit by means of bell-ringing, musical instruments, noisy automatons, gramophones or phonographs...or any loud shouting or speaking, either with or without speaking trumpets" (see point 8)
The club was affiliated to the
Radio Society of Great Britain on 19th August, 1946 and here is the certificate
Why don't you come anymore?
Any ideas when this was?
There seemed to be a shortage of fuel when this was written and club meetings were cut down to save on it, it was near christmas time, but does anybody know what year?
An article in the Evening Telegraph (July 20th, 1972) telling how Dennis (G4AIV) was planning to restart the club (when did it fold?) and revive the club's old callsign, G5KN
CQ CQ CQ....
Any ideas when this was?
...which provoked some interest.
