Big congratulations to the small contingent of NightFlyers who went along to the first Grading competition ever held at Manor Sports College. Niki led the team with a convincing first place and a qualifying score in the over 17 grade 4s, while Cameron secured a deserved 2nd place for his performance in the under 11 grade sixes. Becky returned to competition after her protracted injury problems to take 3rd place and a qualifying score, even without a vol! Also finishing 3rd with a qualifying score was Jessica - we'll miss her when she moves to Northampton later this year.
Harry inconveniently forgot a half twist in his set, but he still came away with another trophy for his mantlepiece. Finally on the podium, Bethany picked up an excellent 3rd place - only missing 2nd in the tie break. Meanwhile, Jade and Chris just missed the medals with 4th places, Bethan finished a commendable 8th out of 23 in her class and Olivia did really well in her first ever competition to come in 10th out of 20 entrants.
Commiserations go to Victoria this time, who had only just moved up to grade 5, but couldn't quite hold that tuck front at the end of her routine.
So, well done to all of you, huge thanks to Toni & Niki for managing without Helen & me (that probably made it easier come to think about it!) and lets aim for a massive turnout for the Nottingham comp in September!
Thanks also to the parents who helped and to Glen and the rest of Manor for running the event. If anyone got any photos, please send them to me.
