Nightflyers attended this years divisional closed competition in a spirit of 'being there and joining in' rather than with any serious expectation of success! This competition is run purely on age group, so clubs like ours, with competitors at a maximum of grade 4 are at a bit of a disadvantage competing against Olympic trampolinists. However, it's a great experience for everyone and gives us a useful opportunity to see how it's done at the higher grades. It also gives our judges a bit of a work-out, eh Dianna? Each age group has a large entry - typically 30 or so, compared with the normal groups of 12-15 at grading competitions. |
That said, there were some spirited performances from our team - Becky put in by far her best performance to date (51.4), finishing 11th, Bronwyn wasn't far behind on 50.4 and Melissa got a 48.1 to help them come 3rd out of 5 teams. Andrew managed a creditable 5th (out of 9) with a score of 76.6 (50.6+final) and Marie continued her rapid improvement with a very tidy 51.0 performance. Charlotte (49.5/74.7) and Lucy (48.1/72.1) both made their final, finishing 8th and 10th and, with help from Rachel Martin (14th, 46.7) they also took a third place team award. Peter came in 5th (46.7/70.9), Abbie did well to complete her routines very cleanly after returning to competition recently (19th, 47.6) and this time it was Marita, Sarah and Yasmin who suffered mishaps - they still did ok though, getting decent form marks on their completed routines, finishing 20th, 21st & 27th. Finally, Emma did a great job with some high scores for form (48.5) - and of course, big congratulations to Lyndon for getting himself a trophy. Well done to everyone who took part. |
