Cheerio Rachel

Posted 23rd May 2005

A few tears were shed tonight as Rachel took her last coaching session for us.  She has been a tremendous asset to the club, as a competitor, committee member and for the past 3 years, coaching the Monday sessions.  I know that everyone at NightFlyers would like to thank her for the huge amount of time and effort she has put in over the years, helping to build our club to the position we are in today.  Those of you who attended her sessions and those of us who have worked alongside her will certainly miss her, both as a coach and a friend.  She has promised to call in when she can though.  Good luck with the MA course Rachel - don't be a stranger.

Doh! They postponed it!

Posted 18th May 2005

The BBC pulled out a the last minute - may try again in a little while though.

We're gonna be on the tele!

Posted 13th May 2005

Next Wednesday, the BBC are coming to film us at Harvey Hadden for an item they're running about how to do trampolining safely - so no falling off or breaking anything you lot!

Thanks to Sport Acts

Posted 21st April 2005

Many thanks to Sport Acts for their support in the form of a £500 donation towards equipment for the club.

Well Done Toni!

Posted 19th March 2005

We've just heard that our Awards for All grant application has been approved for the full amount of £5000.  This will go towards a new trampoline, end-decks and other equipment.  We still need to raise money ourselves to make up the balance, but this is a tremendous boost for the club.  Thanks also to the Awards panel for their support.

Well Done Emma!

Posted 14th March 2005

Congratulations to Emma for passing her coaching exam yesterday!

Bounce-a-thon

Posted 20th February 2005

We're doing a bit more fundraising with a sponsored bounce.  Download your entry form and get some sponsors!  We'll be running the bounce-a-thon during the week of 25th April, so you've got plenty of time to get loads.

Schools Competition

Posted 20th February 2005
We're helping to run a competition for Nottingham Schools on Wednesday 25th May, 4-6pm.  We'll need some help - marshals, judges, recorders etc.  There'll also be a display by some of the club members.  Be there!

New Trampoline

Posted 9th January 2005
NightFlyers now have the use of a brand new Eurotramp 6x4 Grand Master 'Exclusiv' trampoline.  This is a great start to the new year, where we hope to have a number of our members progressing to grade 3.  Enjoy!

Styles and Wood - donation

Posted 7th January 2005
Many thanks to Styles and Wood (retail design and store planning) for their generous donation that enabled us to buy a new push-in mat just before Christmas.  This was done as part of their 'Styles and Wood in the community' scheme, which aims to promote sport and education among young people.

Christmas Gifts

Posted 18th December2004
Just a quick round-up of the year's fundraising etc.  The Kingsmill promotion has now finished, but thanks to all your efforts we've just taken delivery of a couple of sets of training weights, skipping ropes, a stopwatch and some 'instant ice' packs.  The web shopping site will have brought in £230 since we started it last April - we've just bought a new push-in mat with some of this.  Oh, and there's a new 6x4 Eurotramp  competition trampoline arriving in the next couple of weeks.  Have a great Christmas!
Christmas Parties etc.Posted 7th Dec 2004
We'll have sessions running as normal up to and including Monday 20th.
On Friday 17th, the recreational sessions will have a festive flavour - silly games etc.
On Wednesday 22nd, we intend running a Nightflyers Xmas party session from 4:30 - 6:00, with fancy dress and all sorts - all members and parents invited too!
Sessions restart after Xmas on Wednesday 5th January.  Harvey Hadden are also running some extra stuff between Christmas and the New Year, but this is mainly for complete beginners.
Jump to the Top Trampoline ClubPosted 18th Sept 2004
Hello and big THANK YOU to Kelly Taylor and everyone at the Jump to the Top Trampoline Club in Romsey (Hampshire), for sending us a stack of Kingsmill tokens.  If anyone else has got an unusable number left over from their collecting, please let us know!
2-day half-term coursePosted 8th Sept 2004
We're trying to organise a 2-day course during half term (25/26 October).  Keep an eye out for the application forms at the centre and in the post!  More info when I get it...
Back from the Summer holsPosted 8th Sept 2004
Hope you all enjoyed your summer break - now it's back to training!  We've got the last grading comp of the year at Bassetlaw on October 3rd and then the divisional competition on 14th November at Ilkeston.  A number of you are entering for the first time and others have just moved up a grade, so good luck to everyone.
Hello to our overseas visitorsPosted 20th July 2004
Just like to say 'HI!' to what seems to be a growing number of regular overseas visitors to our website. So, thanks to all you guys from Canada, Brazil, New Zealand, Greece, USA etc. for taking an interest.  Why not leave a message on our message board to let us know who you are, and what the trampolining scene is like in your country? ( and a special hello to the US Treasury Dept.  Can you spare a few dollars for a new trampoline???)
Summer Courses & more Stuff!Posted 20th July 2004
It's been a bit quiet on the club news page for a while, so I thought I'd better add a bit, just to prove I'm still here!  Great competition at Lincoln last month - well done everyone.  Toni's running a set of 3 courses in the first 2 weeks of the summer holidays, so get in touch with Harvey Hadden if you want to see whether there are any spaces left.  The club is going to try to achieve 'GymMark' status in the coming year - watch this space for details.  Club sessions will mostly continue as normal throughout the summer, but watch out for last minute cancellations if we find that there's only one person likely to turn up for a session!
Easter Stuff!Posted 5th April 2004
There's a two day course running 13-14th April, plus family sessions on 5th, 7th & 16th.  Notification was sent out to anyone subscribed to Notts Sports info, so I expect all the places are booked up by now!  Check with Harvey Hadden if you're after a space, just in case.
FundraisingPosted 13th January 2004
We've started some fundraising initiatives.  First, we're collecting tokens from Kingsmill bread.  We do need rather a lot, so you'll have to get all your family, friends, parents work colleagues etc. collecting for us.  Bring along any tokens to Toni, Rachel or Chris.
Secondly, we're running our own online 'Shopping Mall'.  Any of you who already buy goods online know how much you can save on high street prices.  Well now, you pay the same low prices, but Night Flyers also gets a 'referral' commission.  To make this work, all you have to do is get to the usual online store via our 'shop front' page ( click
here ).  There's a really good range of shops including Amazon, M & S, Comet, RAC.
So tell all your friends about it, you'll get some bargains and we'll get that new equipment in no time!
Two new coachesPosted 14th December 2003
Chris & Lisa both passed their coaching exam today, so in the the new year, we'll be increasing the numbers on the late Friday sessions, where they'll be able to take a group of beginners.
Extra TrampolinePosted 14th December 2003
Harvey Hadden have managed to negotiate the transfer of an almost new 6x6 competition standard trampoline from another leisure centre, which means that we'll be back up to 3 beds for rec and club sessions in the new year.  Unfortunately, we've just heard that our Awards for All grant application was unsuccessful, so the much needed 4th bed will have to wait a bit longer.  We did have some good fundraising ideas at the AGM though, so we'll keep trying.  If anyone can think of other ways of bringing in some money, let us know!
New YearPosted 10th December 2003
The last session before Christmas will be on Friday 12th December.  Club sessions start again on Monday 5th January.  We have managed to hang on to the 6:30-8:00pm slot on Mondays, so it's business as usual!  All other session times will also be unchanged.
Annual General MeetingPosted 24th November 2003
We'll have this years AGM immediately after the second fun session (about 9:30pm) on Friday 12th December, in the foyer at Harvey Hadden.  Everyone is welcome to attend - it's your club remember.  If you've got any ideas or suggestions for how we could run the club better, or other things you'd like to discuss, either come along, have a word with Toni, Rachel or Chris,  or drop us a line with your ideas.  Also, if there's anything you'd like to ask about the club, please feel free. (you don't actually have to wait for the AGM to do this!)
Xmas FunPosted 23rd November 2003
On Friday 12th of Dec were going to have a fun night.  This will be the last session before Harvey Haddon have the floor resealed so our last training session before Christmas.
Every one is invited to join in, even if you don't normally bounce on a Friday.  We're going to run it in 2 sessions 4.40 - 5.30 & 7.30 - 9.30 come to either or both - it's up to you.
Those that go on the first Friday session know that I'm usually early ( traffic permitting ) so we'll start as soon as I get there.
OH YEAH forgot to mention a small point : IT'S FANCY DRESS
So get your mums and dads to get there thinking heads on and see what they can come up with.
Don't forget that what ever you wear has to be safe to trampoline in so no sharp or hard bits.
Trampolines - UpdatePosted 15th November 2003
Back up to 2 trampolines now!  Waiting for news on the lottery grant.
TrampolinesPosted 7th November 2003
We've just hit a minor crisis!  Two of our three trampolines have failed their annual inspection and the repair bill looks prohibitive.  Toni's managed to work out how to bring a second trampoline into service by a combination of second-hand purchase and repair, but it will be a week or two until we can get this sorted.  We've also put in an application in for a lottery grant, but even if we're successful, the new bed is unlikely to materialise until next February.  Please bear with us during this period - we'll get back to full operation again very soon.  Meanwhile, if anyone knows of potential sponsors, let us know!
Help Needed!Posted 4th October 2003
We really need a few more parents to help out with the club - especially to act as officials at competitions.  It is a condition of entry that we have to provide judges, marshals and recorders for every competition and at present, this is being done by the same 2 or 3 individuals every time.  If we can get another 4 or 5 people to help, it will mean that we can arrange it so that everyone can see their children compete too.  It doesn't take long to learn what you need to do for marshalling or recording, and even judging is a lot easier than you might think (at the lower grades anyway!)  We are still trying to arrange training courses for judges, but without some volunteers to attend, it's difficult to justify running a course.   So, please try to help - just have a word with Toni, Chris or Rachel - it needn't be very time consuming and can be very rewarding.
Website SuccessPosted 22nd September 2003
It's been just over 6 months since we launched our website and during that time we've had over 2000 visitors.  This includes people from overseas - we've had contacts from French, Dutch, Japanese, German, Arabic, Italian, Danish, Russian, Spanish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Swedish and Thai speakers from most of the time-zones around the world.  More and more club members are getting online to find out what's going on.  So, hello to everyone, please leave a message on our message board and here's to the next 6 months!

Friday Visitor!

Posted 7th August 2003

Many thanks to Natalie Jacques for popping in last week to say hello and show us a few scary moves at the end of the rec session.  We'd also like to congratulate her on her 5th place in the nationals and wish her luck for the future.

Fund Raising
The club needs a new trampoline, so we're looking for fund raising ideas.  If you fancy packing bags at ASDA, a sponsored baked bean eating contest or holding up the local building society, let us know!
