International Events 2008

Trampolinists from the East Midlands have been in action around Europe this year, competing successfully at events in Germany and Sweden.

Germany March 2008
There are many open international competitions held overseas and it is our intention to 'take a look' at the events and maybe plan to insert some of them into the EM Calendar in future years. We have now competed at 5 internationals and must recommend that The Grenzland Cup, Aachen, Germany, be considered for future use by the East Midland Team. This competition attracts teams from all over the world including USA and Canada plus others.

The organisation was interesting in that you were required to find your own food, accommodation and transport - in other words, here is the venue, just turn-up and compete! There were no other GB representatives attending apart from our three competitors, Jake Chattaway (3rd place in a world class field), Dale Bevan (Men's 25th place in a group of 50) and Laura Ashley (36th place, also from a large group). Just to help get the feel of the quality of the competition, top 8 of the Men's Finalists all bounced a difficulty of 15.4 to 15.8 with the winner producing 5 triple somersaults and with 8s for their form marks. This German competition runs every 2 years.

Sweden March 2008
The Frivolten Cup is a trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) competition, held in Sweden.  it was very well organised with all food, accommodation and transport provided.  Bassetlaw TC had a share of the local Gym with teams from Wales and Tyneside.

Results:
We got two 1st places in the DMT competitions - congratulations go to Shannon O'Brien and Laura Ashley.
Katie O'Brien finished her DMT competition in 3rd place and Mathew Colley finished in a respectable 4th.
Dale Bevan managed 11th in his Men's DMT.

On the trampoline, Jake Chattaway finished in 3rd place in the youth competition.
Shannon O'Brian made the trampoline final and finished in 7th place (there were 35 in her group).  Dale Bevan finished 12th in the Men's competition and Mathew Colley also made the finals, coming in 6th.

Adam Broomhead and Ross Hammond both got through to the finals, each of them finishing 7th.
Laura Ashley was 13th, Stepthany Travis was 18th, Fay Hammond was 21st and Luke Callachan finished 21st.
