See below for reports on events recently contested. The Lincolnshire Road Rally was a Clubman Permit event running in Lincolnshire. Running at car 6 (second highest start number ever) with Chris Faulkner in his Sierra Sapphire. Despite a confident start, problems with solving the handouts slowed down progress somewhat (despite high speeds on some sections). Then we found a section which I simply couldn't get to plot, missing a control and getting a fail in the process. Finished a disappointed 11th (last) Overall, collecting the "last but not lost" trophy. |

| The Jackson Trophy Road Rally was an EMAMC championship event running in South Yorkshire on the weekend of 24/25 April. Competing with Chris Faulkner in his Sierra for our first time on the event which used to be renowd for it's use of the rougher roads. |

Running at car 13, we expected we
were in for a hard night. Had no real problems with the handouts, aside
from general difficulty plotting on the move.
Finishing a surprised and rather exhausted 10th Overall and 2nd in Class, thus making sure we're classified as Experts in the future. |

The Mermaid Road Rally was a Clubman Permit event running on maps 150 and 151. Competing with Chris Faulkner, in his Sierra on the weekend of 27/28 March 2004. Yet another non-championship event, this time we ran at car 8 in the Sierra |

Sapphire. Going quite well initially I then had problems with one of the handouts, which meant that we missed a control (which, had we decided to be unsporting we could have got scrubbed). The car also cut out again this time at a standing give way, which necessitated another bump start (this time in reverse) from myself - it's a very heavy car to push on your own! Also suffered from some overheating which turned out to be mud on the radiator and a non functioning radiator fan. Finished 7th Overall (my best overall finish aside from 12 cars) and 2nd in class. Scooping the "centenary award" for the crew and car with a combined age of over 100 - in our case 101! |

The Swan Road Rally was a real departure for myself and Chris Faulkner, taking place "down South" around Reading on the wet night of 13/14 March 2004. A non-championship event, we found ourselves running at car 14 in the Sierra Sapphire. Unfortunately we got stuck sideways on a white, then the car cut out and wouldn't restart; thus by the time we'd got pulled out by a 4x4 we were OTL and decided to go home to bed rather than missing masses of the route and rejoining elsewhere. |

& EMAMC Championship, myself and Chris Faulkner found ourselves running at a surprising car 18 in Chris' Sierra Sapphire. I had a few problems in deciphering the handouts during the event, and we discovered that after being "thrashed" the car has a tendency to cut out, necessitating a push start on three occasions. Survived the ford (see last years report) but finished a disappointed 24th overall and 10th semi-expert having been credited with missing two codeboards along the way. |

The Cossack Road Rally was held in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire on the wet night of 1/2 November 2003. Running at car 36 and helping Stage Rally driver Dave Collyer shake down his 1600cc Nova GSi. We discovered that the car wouldn't run cleanly over 100mph and Dave found it difficult getting to grips with driving "competitively" on the public highway, but came away pleased to finish 36th Overall (excellent seeding) and 23rd in class (expert). |

& Northamptonshire on the warm and dry night of 20/21 September 2003. Just to add interest I was also acting as Entries Secretary on the night. Once again partnering Chris Faulkner in his Sierra, with newly rebuilt engine installed, this time he was taking no chances with a re-routed air intake. Running at car 18 we really fancied our chances to gain top "Novices" however come the night we just couldn't maintain the pace, more due to "rusty" plotting on my part.Had loads of fun, flattened a few rabbits and loosened the exhaust in the first half, and frightened Mike "ditch" Dowling entering his control sideways and completely out of control. Finished 12th Overall and 2nd in Class, Chris' best result for many a year. |

2003 in slippery and cold, but mercifully dry conditions. Navigating Chris Faulkner at Car 35, in his Sierra Sapphire, as part of our assault on the ANEMMC & EMAMC Championships; initially things went very well, with very little time being dropped. Unfortunately forced to retire with a holed engine just into the second half, when the engine took in water at a double Ford. |
