Stephen Potter (1900-1969) was an author, best remembered for
the Gamesmanship and One-upmanship
humourous books. He also wrote the first book about D.H.Lawrence and
a number of other literary works.
He was also a broadcaster with the BBC, writing and producing some
200 Feature programmes in the 1940s, best remembered for the "How"
collaborations with Joyce Grenfell.
A new book Stephen Potter
at the BBC has just been published on this subject.
He was married twice, firstly to Mary
Attenborough, the artist, and secondly to Heather Jenner, the
founder of the Marriage Bureau.
