Terry Pratchett writes fantasy comedy that
pokes fun in a friendly way at "serious" fantasy novels,
history, geography, the arts, and just about every other target you
could mention. His books are set on the Discworld, a flat world
propelled through space on the backs of four elephants standing on a
giant turtle. All are worth a read - some like Mort, Pyramids
and Small Gods are true classics. In order of publication, his discworld books are:
