This story is split over two volumes,

Mirror of Her Dreams and

Man Rides Through. It deals with a heroine Terisa Morgan, who is
plucked from a self-indulgent life in New York into Mordant by the
accidental magic of the apprentice magician Geraden. The kingdom of
Mordant is in dire need; threatened by the evil magician Vagel and the
hordes of Cadwal from without and betrayed by unknown enemies within.
The kingdom is directed by the magic of mirrors, visions and images, to
which Terisa holds the key. Many treacherous traps lie along the way
before the identity of the traitors is revealed and the conflict
resolved. Lighter in mood than the Thomas
Covenant stories, this story has some excellent characters,
