Pat Arrowsmith - Peace campaigner
One of our leafleters at the end of Trident Day - all leaflets had been taken
Pat Arrowsmith - 50 Years in the Peace Movement - 1 October

Pat Arrowsmith came to the meeting before our AGM and gave us a facinating account of her 50 years in the Peace Movement, ranging from wrtime experience, the Aldermaston marches and more recent events.

Trident Day - 28 November

Members spent the day between 10am and 4pm leafleting against Trident renewal, with its £76 billion price tag. Shoppers took all our leaflets and many signed the anti-Trident petition.

Earlier in the year on Hiroshima Day, 6 August, a plaque was dedicated in Sumpter Yard next to a newly planted peace rose. The plaque reads:

This rose was planted in memory of the dead of all wars and in particular those killed by the nuclear bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, August 1945

Dedicated by  Jeffrey John, Dean of St Albans, on behalf of the St Albans Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, 6th August 2009
