There was hostelling at Inglesham and Kemsing and a Horsell slide show early in the year. A sponsered 50 mile ride in aid of the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen was run by Gareth Keller in April with 20 riders and, at Easter, six members toured in Norfolk and Suffolk. Mead Vale at Ewhurst Green was first used for tea and a treasure hunt over Puttenham Common in May was followed by a rough-stuff event at Rushmoor. Nine Thursday Nighters had another week-end at East Ilsley and a map-reading event was won by Hamish Smith.
The longest day produced one of the longest rides - well over 100 miles - to Wherwell in the Test valley and there were a number of long hauls that Summer - to Piltdown, Watlington and West Ashling.
In August there was sea bathing on the Clymping run and the Club's birthday rides from Godalming included riders from Belgium, Holland and California as well as from Bristol, Cornwall and the Home Counties. A General Section run to West Itchenor notched up 50 miles before lunch and August Bank Holiday had Breconshire as the hunting ground. Eleven took part in the September "100" and, during a Thursday evening run to The Queens Head at East Clandon, Harold Coleman appeared with the suddeness of a pantomime demon. Russ Mantle won both the hill-climb and the free-wheeling in October and, in the last week of that month - on a ride to Micheldever - the weather was so warm that members stowed jackets away, riding with bare arms as well as bare legs. With Don Field as Chairman at the November A.G.M. the business was disposed of in 30 minutes and Graham Richardson came on to the Committee. There were eight on a hostelling week-end to Goudhurst and at the Guildford dinner, Henry Hall of the K.W.'s was the guest speaker. Christmas tea for over 30 was at Tongham but snow and a biting north-easter kept numbers down to 15 on the appetiser ride though several spent the festive season in the Lake District.
