Bill Stickley and Gareth Keller were welcomed into the fold.
Of 14 entrants in the "50" only five succeeded in wind and rain while for the "100" in April only seven faced the starter and they encountered freezing sleet. There were 22 at Turgis Green for hot lunch with the K.W.'s and on the same week-end eleven younger riders joined with Guildford Y.H.A. group at Winchester hostel. It was very cold with hail in May but in June the Rose Hill Tea Cottage at Warfield having learned that it was the President's birthday, provided a lavish birthday cake which was shared by 20 members.
Early July was marred by the death of founder member Les Norman who had been a regular rider and hard worker for cycling and the D.A. for so many years.
Ray Craig, riding in 'Ville colours, competed in the famous Catford 24 hour time trial. He achieved around 400 miles though the winner notched up 455. Warming drinks were needed in the afternoon on a run to the Forest of Bere in July but on the following Sunday members sizzled in 80 degrees. In August seven went on a hostelling tour in Austria and another ten spent the Bank Holiday in the Chepstow area.
Brian Charman won the speed-judging also the hill-climb at a new venue near Oakhanger. There was an October week-end in the New Forest and at the A.G.M. Alan Robinson was elected Secretary while Russ Mantle took over as Runs Secretary from Hamish Smith. Bill Holdsworth of the South Bucks D.A. was guest speaker at the Guildford dinner with Mrs. Shirley Quemby in support though speaker Ken Beaumont missed the function owing to a car accident and the year ended with an enjoyable Christmas dinner for 17 at Turgis Green.
